I like the idea of accumulating good work to get better at a task that you want to excel at. “Random walks” for knowledge accumulating do not really end up working out. You go too shallow. This aligns with my statement that generalism is not desirable — in every domain, specialists thrive (despite what they might tell you in school.) This doesn’t mean that being a Generalist is bad, or that you can’t have varied interests. That’s great! But going deep should not be shunned either, and I do believe that most people who do exceptional work have done so because they have the capacity to go deep in the subject they have chosen.
